Farr 30 Youth Challenge signs up to the International Farr 30 World Championship in Copenhagen 24th – 30th August 2014 .
The spectacular city of Copenhagen, Denmark and the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY) will host the 2014 Farr 30 World Championship from August 24 to 30. This storied event returns to Europe after a successful 2012 World Championship sailed in Båstad,
During the 2013 worlds Sweden hosted nineteen teams from seven countries that battled it out for the title of World Champion. This year organisers are expecting twenty five entries to showcase their skills in the highly competitive and beloved Farr 30 One Design. Currently 15 boats signed up to-date.
Much to the relief of the fleet, former Class President and three time Farr 30 World Champion, Deneen Demourkas will not be sailing this event however, she will be onsite to offer words of wisdom and to present the Royal Canadian Yacht Club Trophy to the newly crowned World Champion.
You can bet Class stalwart Harald Bruening of Germany has his eyes on the prize. He too has been sailing the Farr 30 as long as Demourkas and with a string of top five finishes at World Championships, he has yet to win it. “This is our year” says Bruening. “Our boat is perfect, our crew are hungry and we are ready to fight.”
The Swedish Youth entry have plans of their own to finish in a podium position. The team all have a sailing background with multiple Sailing Arabia events sailed together. The team has over 100 miles together and a lot of inshore racing experience. This year the team is ready for action and currently setting up highly professional campaign.
Farr 30 Youth Challenge from Sweden will join teams with Plymouth Sailing Team to prove that Youth sailors can challenge the race favourites, ‘’Harald Bruening, Team Topas and Matrisen Sailing Team with Martin Strandberg and many others.
Together the two youth teams will become one strong and highly skilled team. The team will be doing a lot of training before the worlds event both in the UK and in Sweden with professional coaches guiding them and making the boat go as fast as possible around the corse.

We have very good trimmers onboard but also a very experienced tactician who will guide us around the track. The Plymouth Sailing Team is a team of highly talented youth sailors based in the United Kingdom lead by Plymouth University student Marcel Herrera. With ambitions of entering into the professional Offshore and Grand Prix yacht racing world
Farr 30 Youth Challenge is a serious setup whereby young dedicated sailors will have the chance to race against the best in one of the hottest racing yachts. The project started in 2011 and is lead by Project manager Pierre Gronberg. The project give individual highly talented youth sailors the opportunity to race against top sailing teams with help from coaches and sponsors.
